Course Information (See Map Below)
Both the 10K and the 3K start and finish in front of the Peabody School, which is located right on Stanton Park at 5th and C Streets NE, in Washington, D.C. The school is three blocks from Union Station. The kids' fun run goes around Stanton Park.

The race is the ONLY race run entirely though historic Capitol Hill. The course takes you along Massachusetts Avenue, around Lincoln Park, down East Capitol Street to RFK Stadium, then back up East Capitol (with a slight jig to Pennsylvania Avenue) to and around the U.S. Capitol.

The 10K is a fast, USATF-certified course that features ChampionChip Timing, Mile Splits and water stations.

  ChampionChip Timing
The ChampionChip timing system will be used to score the race: all 10K and 3K runners are required to rent or purchase a ChampionChip for their event. The system uses a computer chip tied to the runners' shoe laces that records the exact time each runner crosses the start and finish lines. The result is a net, or "chip," time for each runner. Overall awards will be based on "clock time" and age-group awards will be based on "chip time." Race fees include chip rentals; rented chips must be returned following your race.

You may purchase your own ChampionChip for $35. Chip owners are assigned a unique number and the chip can be used again for any ChampionChip race. For more information, call 301-871-0005 or visit www.runwashington.com.
